Hello, my name is Dr. Joy Haeshin Curran. You can call me Dr. Joy or Dr. Curran.
When I was a young girl, my younger brother passed away from an incurable heart disease he was born with. I remember putting my hands out and praying that God would help me heal people with my hands. I was too young to understand what it meant to be a doctor, but the desire was planted in me at a very early age.
As a teenager, I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip with my church, where I observed significant healthcare needs in both children and adults. My passion for caring for people grew, and I was led to pursue a career in medicine as a physician.
After many years of training and life experiences, I became a physician, a wife, and a mother. I am also a Christian, which is an identity that guides how I see myself and others—that we are created to be loved and to live with a specific purpose. I value the different roles I have in life and am deeply thankful for the opportunities they bring. Each role helps me grow into the best person I can be through both life’s successes and challenges. This perspective shapes how I approach patient care in my practice.
We all have different roles we play, along with many successes and challenges that influence our decisions—both healthy and unhealthy. That is why a holistic approach to one’s health is so important. It requires a thoughtful understanding of each person’s life, including physical, mental, emotional, relational, intellectual, financial, and spiritual health. My goal is to walk alongside my patients on their journey to becoming the healthiest version of themselves. This requires a compassionate, comprehensive, thoughtful, realistic, and caring approach to health.
The goal of this website is to share information. I hope it provides insight and understanding about your health and helps you navigate your healthcare journey alongside your healthcare professionals and the healthcare system. I believe that true well-being starts from within, with the understanding that you are valuable in many aspects of your life. I often remind my patients that “you are the one and only Ferrari in the world.”
As a family physician, it is a privilege to walk alongside patients and families throughout the different stages of life. I have the honor of witnessing both beginnings and endings. I would be grateful to be part of your health journey if you do not currently have a doctor. You can call my current office to make an appointment and begin that journey. If you already have a healthcare professional caring for you, I hope this website serves as a valuable support to your health journey.
